What Are The Common Diabetes Symptoms?

By Sandy Rutherforde

Diabetes symptoms are any and all of those symptoms that typically come with the disease referred to as diabetes mellitus, or just diabetes as it is identified by many people. Diabetes is essentially a grouping of diseases that are metabolic in nature and that usually give an individual higher blood sugar levels. High blood sugar often occurs when the body does not produce enough of the necessary insulin or the cells within the body don't react to the insulin that has been produced. Whenever high blood sugar develops within the body, it is what helps to create the common symptoms which are connected to the condition.

These particular group of symptoms are quite identifiable and they are frequently what prompts an individual to be examined by their doctor after they take place. Several of the most common of diabetes symptoms include polyuria, which is heading to the bathroom to urinate very often. There's also polydipsia, which is essentially a constant thirst and polyphaga, which translated is actually a continual hunger or greater degree of hunger for food in general.

As was earlier mentioned, diabetes is actually a group of diseases. There are various types of this disease which include Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, congenital diabetes, gestational diabetes, steroid diabetes, monogamic diabetes and diabetes linked to cystic fibrosis.

Just about all forms of diabetes can be addressed effectively with insulin and have been treated with it ever since it was available way back in 1921. Type 2 diabetes is usually taken care of with the assistance of medication in many instances. Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes are both chronic in nature. There's no known cure for either of these two forms of the condition presently.

Just as there are different types of diabetes, there are different types of symptoms aside from the classic ones mentioned. Several of the other symptoms include changes in vision, rashes, dehydration, tiredness, weight loss, nausea, dry mouth, and irritability, to mention a few.

The start of diabetes symptoms can occur quickly or quite gradually or be invisible in a few cases. It is the masking of these symptoms, or the simple fact they appear harmless much of the time, that can cause diabetes to be undiagnosed in quite a few patients. It's only through the earlier diagnosis and treatment of this condition that an individual can potentially prevent the additional complications of diabetes. Diabetes complications are frequently connected to the skin, eyes, feet, kidneys, heart, and blood pressure.
