Classifying Important Diabetes Symptoms

By Stepanie Almarza

Diabetes symptoms often are the same symptoms that are apparent in other disorders. The only symptoms that are unique to diabetes are not readily apparent without extensive medical testing. Of course, this does not mean you should quit keeping an eye on signs of the disease. Diabetes can begin to show symptoms of itself in a variety of ways. This article will explain some of the chief indicators of this sickness.

The most discernible symptom of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes is that the body halts production of insulin the way it typically does so. Still, this is not as apparent as, say, the symptoms from the common flu. Usually, this is only observed when you visit your physician for another matter. When a blood or organ test is done, the lower levels of insulin can be observed. Type 1 most often is diagnosed when a person is quite young and is generally noticed, due to the physician trying to diagnose a flu bug or something similar.

A primary trigger of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes is that the body is unsuccessful in the proper production of potassium. The body's potassium gets out of whack and this causes a host of physical symptoms like dehydration, altered mental state and sometimes even a coma can occur if the problem is not caught in time. This irregular production of potassium is generally misdiagnosed in the beginning, which is why, if you are not feeling right you should demand that your medical professional be as meticulous as possible in diagnosing you. You're not going to want to be sent off with a prescription for antibiotics when the infallible issue is diabetes!

How often do you urinate during the day? This is probably something that you do not feel comfortable answering out loud. You should at least give an answer to the question in your head. While some may believe that is actually the excessive thirst diabetes sympmtom that makes the excessive urination occur, physicians insist that it is a symptom all on it's own. If you find that you constantly have to use the bathroom-even if you aren't eating or drinking a lot-you should call your doctor and ask for your potassium and bladder function to be checked. It is quite feasible that in the middle of the testing, the physician may find diabetes.

There are different signs of diabetes, but they can be agonizing. The most apparent signs (the lack of insulin production) are tough to see without thorough medical testing. Different indicators are quite visible. At the same time, many of the noticeable indicators of diabetes are also noticeable indicators of other problems and disorders. It is essential for you to be aware of your body (and the bodies of your loved ones). You don't want an incorrect diagnosis for your disease. Ask for another opinion if you believe your own medical professional has misdiagnosed your or your children.
