By Megan Tuff

Signs of diabetes are quite frequently the same signs that are observable in other illnesses. The only indicators that are specific to diabetes are not readily obvious without thorough medical testing. Although, this does not mean you should stop looking for signs of the disease. There are several different methods diabetes utilizes to show indicators of its illness. This article will share some knowledge about the dominant indicators of this disease.

One of the most common signs of diabetes is fatigue. Yes, fatigue is a sign of an array of issues. Sometimes it could be a symptom of a major illness. Other times it simply means that you need to get more sleep at night. When it is being caused by diabetes however, the fatigue is extreme. Someone having to contend with this type of drowsiness probably gets more than enough sleep at night and, even if they are not very active, will often feel incredibly tired. This is the type of sleepiness that is often thought of when mononucleosis is brought up and can be just as limiting. Keep track of your energy levels. If there is no reason for you to be feeling so exhausted, call your doctor and ask him to run some tests.

Do you have periodic bouts of blurred vision? You won't always notice this if it's happening to your loved one. Talk to your doctor about having your insulin levels tested if you experience this symptom. Diabetes can be referred to as Diabetes Melitus. When the body fluid is pulled out of the tissue surroundin the lenses of your eyes it causes this. Focusing your eyes when this occurs is difficult. Once in awhile you may discover it's time to see the eye doctor for glasses. Watch out though, pay close attention to the timing, if it's constant see your eye doctor, if it's intermitent or comes and goes definately see your doctor.

One of the signs of diabetes that is more difficult to figure out, especially in yourself is when you feel a bit out of sorts. We all have days where we have difficulty paying attention. If you are all of a sudden feeling agitated, confused or even irritable and can't seem to figure out why you feel that way, it could be due to the fact you are feeling one of the syndromes of diabetes. It is not hard to realize this in others, however it is more difficult to see it in yourself. You might not even know that you're acting out of sorts. It's when someone asks "what's wrong with you" that you should be alert. On some occasions, it is just a bad mood. Periodically it is a warning that something is not going the way it should internally and physically.

One person may show different symptoms of diabetes than the next. This is because there are different types of diabetes and because the disease affects everybody differently. Being tested for other conditions is sometimes the only way diabetes is discovered because there are not always symptoms. Misdiagnoses happen even when a person shows all the symptoms. Ask your doctor to screen you for diabetes if you are suffering any of the symptoms mentioned above.
