How Diabetes Symptoms Typically Manifest

By Marion Shaw

Manifestation of diabetes generally appears the same as the signs of other illnesses. The only evidence that points to diabetes is not readily apparent without some complex medical testing. However, this does not mean you should discontinue looking for any signs of the illness. Diabetes can start to show evidence of itself in a wide array of methods. This article will explain some of the chief indicators of this sickness.

The most discernible symptom of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes is that the body halts production of insulin the way it typically does so. Nevertheless, this is not as evident as, say, the signs of the common flu. Ordinarily, this is only recognized when you visit your doctor for a different matter. A decreased amount of insulin can be recognized when you have testing done on your blood or organs. Type 1 often times gets diagnosed when a person is rather young and is usually discovered on the account of the physician trying to diagnose a bug.

Are you more irritable without outside factors influencing it? While every one has bad moods occasionally, unexplainable irritability could be caused by issues with your blood sugar levels. Fluctuating blood sugar levels is a sure sign of the possibility of diabetes. The reason people start becoming more irritable when they start becoming diabetic is because their body is no longer processing food correctly. If you cannot find another reason for your sudden mood swings, talk to your doctor about being tested for diabetes or hypoglycemia.

Most everyone knows that diabetics have problems with their feet. These problems are often the result of poor circulation. If you notice that your feet (and/or hands) have started tingling you should call your doctor. Circulation issues make it very important for diabetics to be watchful over their hands and feet. If you develop sores on your feet that won't heal, contact your doctor immediately. In most cases, you can be treated for this problem right in the doctor's office. Do not ignore any tingling or sores. Ignoring this particular symptom is why so many people with diabetes end up having to go through amputations.

Diabetes is generally pretty hard to diagnose. This is as a result of not everyone being familiar with the main signs of diabetes so they don't know what to watch out for. A good rule of thumb is that if you are behaving out of sorts for yourself, it is time to contact your doctor. Don't forget the indicators that are directly related to diabetes are not usually exhibited outwardly. A blood test and test of your pancreas will be necessary to appropriately diagnose you. Upon obtaining the right diagnosis, you'll be able to see how to feel better and get back to your normal self.
